Beginning in July 2021, there are new special conditions that candidates are required to satisfy to obtain a permanent residence permit in Sweden. The new conditions apply to everybody, notwithstanding their type of residence permit. To get a residence permit, every candidate is required to:

You must have a three-year residence permit before getting a permanent one. Self-employed individuals and quota refugees with a residence permit are excluded from this condition.
- They must have sufficient funds to sponsor themselves financially at the time of their settlement in Sweden. You are required to be able to do so via salary from your employment, your own business, or a mixture of the two.
- Live a formal life. The Swedish Parliament does not allow people likely to commit offenses in the future to get permanent residence in Sweden. You are required to have an accurate lifestyle to get a permanent residence permit in Sweden. The Swedish Migration Agency will look at your past ways of living to evaluate whether you are qualified.
Note: Other laws are applied for people who have a residence permit for upper secondary status research or a residence permit to authorize them to seek employment after concluding their studies.

How To Make An Application For A Permanent Residence Permit In Sweden
You can only apply for a permanent residence permit by completing an application for an extended work permit through online services. The application procedure is to prolong your recent permit and get a permanent residence permit modification according to the kind of permit you already have.
If your application for a permanent residence permit is successful, you will become a permanent resident in Sweden and get a permanent residence card. You will not need to prolong or continue your residence permit; however, your residence card is authentic for one to five years, so you may need to continue it.
How Long To Get Citizenship In Sweden
You can apply for citizenship after five years of steady settlement in Sweden. The five years are estimated differently depending on the kind of residence permit you had while you settled in the nation. Often, the period you settled under a permit that results in a permanent residence permit is estimated towards that duration. Losing Your Permanent Residence Permit
Indeed, it is possible to lose your permanent residence permit if:
