Meaning Of PGWP Petition e4454
International students in Canada who complete an eight- or 12-month study program often receive one-year post-graduation work permits (PGWPs) that allow them to work for any Canadian employer.
Similarly, international students completing a study course of two years or more are entitled to three-year Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWPs). We will start with the common conditions even though Canada has launched new rules for PGWPs for foreign students studying in certain academic institutions and or academic levels.
The new Post Graduation Work Permit e4454 plea requests the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada to elevate the period of Post Graduation Work Permits being allocated to international students.
This plea requests that the Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) minister elevate the term of the Postgraduate Work Permit to 24 months for students completing studies from an 8- to 12-month study course and five years for students completing a study course of 24 months or more.
Grounds Of The Petition
International students who have concluded a 24-month course since 2017 have been awarded a four-and-a-half-year Postgraduate Work Permit (PGWP). Formerly awarded for three years, it was extended for an extra 18 months under the Public Policy for Postgraduate Work Permit extension.

The students who concluded a 12-month course at an applicable assigned learning institution since 2019 have been qualified for a two-and-a-half-year Post-Graduation Work Permit, which was initially 12 months, with an extra 18 months awarded by the public protocol for Post-Graduation Work Permit extensions.
The justification is that the Canadian Government, like other schemes such as the Labour Market Impact Assessment-Based work permit and the Provincial Nominee Program (T13) work permit, has enough information to guarantee a permanent change to the Postgraduate Work Permit period.
After concluding their studies, graduates without prior employment skills often battle for a skilled job. A prolonged term will support the addition of beneficial skills. An extended Postgraduate Work Permit will address crucial worries, including businesses trading employment offers, Labor Market Impact Assessment scams, and so-called workers processing dummy payrolls.
Holders of work permits who cannot get capable jobs and are therefore weak in exploitation skills stress and worry because of the present duration of the Postgraduate Work Permit.
