Ontario and British Columbia have launched new standards to enhance the virtue of post-secondary schooling on a provincial level. The Ontario administration states it will be operating with sector associates and the national administration to investigate ways to proceed to summarize the bad actor recruiters who take advantage of international students and make questionable assertions of jobs and citizenship.
Many new standards strive to ensure that international students at provincial post-secondary schools are being provided educational courses that satisfy the demands of Ontario’s labor market. The region states it will check courses with increased numbers of international students to ensure their quality; therefore, students can satisfy the requirements of the local workforce.
Furthermore, the Ontario News published that the region would execute standards to enhance the feedback rate to student results assessment to ensure the best educational results are being attained.
British Columbia’s administration is also launching standards to enhance the quality of post-secondary schools for international students in the region. It declares that it will halt authorizations for new Designated Learning Institutions for the next 24 months until February 2026 for new schools. British Columbia has the third highest number of designated learning institutions in Canada, with 276, Quebec following 443, and Ontario with 529.
Designated learning institutions are the only post-secondary schools that can accept international students. Since education is a regional duty, each region has distinct measures to become a designated learning institution.

Private Courses And Schools to Be Reviewed
Ontario is launching a moratorium on new public college-private partnerships and operating to boost surveillance to ensure the quality of existing partnerships. Public college-private institution partnerships have been under examination in recent weeks as Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada has declared that students registered in courses with curriculum certifying arrangements at private institutions with a public college partnership are no longer qualified for a Post-Graduation Work Permit after the conclusion of studies.

Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada states that these courses have observed significant expansion in enticing international students in recent years, even though they have lower surveillance than public institutions and can perform as a loophole concerning Post Graduation Work Permit qualification.
British Columbia states that Bit will be performing checks for private degree courses. It will also execute higher evaluation measures for course quality, indicated labor market requirements for graduates, applicable resources, and student sponsorship. Students registered in private training colleges in British Columbia must also satisfy minimum language conditions. The province states this will ensure new international students are adequately ready for their academic and professional expedition in British Columbia.
Accommodation For Foreign Students
Ontario will now demand that all institutions ensure that accommodation choices are obtainable for incoming international students. This aligns with current publicity by Canada’s national administration that it will offer low-cost student lodging loans, either on or off campus. The loans are an aspect of restructuring a $40 billion flats building loan program launched in the Fall Economic Statement for 2023.
Canada’s minister of housing, infrastructure, and communities, Sean Fraser, declared in a video posted to his Twitter page that constructing additional student lodging would support driving down the expense of accommodation for every individual in cities and municipalities with a considerable student population throughout the academic year.
Ensuring enough accommodation for international students has been a significant worry for Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada over the last few years. The minister for immigration, Marc Miller, declared the recently launched cap on the number of foreign student visas would assist in developing a more robust, more endurable program and support to ensure they require, which includes accommodation when they land in Canada.
